APC-Min/+小鼠的发病机制是基因突变，截短APC蛋白导致肠道上皮细胞胞质β-catenin蛋白的积累，而后使其入核与相关转录因子结合启动下游原癌基因的活化。与人源APC中携带突变的人一样，APC-Min/+小鼠易患肠腺瘤，该模型可用于模拟人类家族性腺瘤性息肉病和结直肠肿瘤。
